Description
This course provides an introduction to the principles and techniques
of modern observational astronomy. Topics range from fundamentals of
radiation measurement to practical telescopes and detectors. Both
coherent and incoherent detection is examined in the context of imaging,
spectroscopic and interferometric observations. A companion laboratory
course, ASTR 405, provides direct experience with astronomical
observations and data analysis.
